K-Laser Therapy for Kids & Teens

Pain and injuries don't only affect adults.

Kids and teens can deal with sports injuries, overuse pain, sprains, strains, and other conditions that interfere with school, activities, sleep, or simply being active.

K-Laser Therapy is a comfortable, non-invasive treatment that may help reduce pain and inflammation while supporting the body's natural recovery process. There are no needles, injections, or downtime, and treatment can be adjusted based on the young person's age, size, condition, and area being treated.

I take time to understand what happened, what they're feeling, and what they're trying to get back to doing. If I don't believe K-Laser Therapy is appropriate for their situation, I'll tell you.

The goal is simple: help them feel better and get back to being kids.

Common Injuries and Conditions

K-Laser Therapy may be helpful for a variety of acute and overuse injuries that affect kids and teens, including:

  • Sprains and strains

  • Tendonitis and overuse injuries

  • Sports-related muscle and joint pain

  • Knee, ankle, and foot pain

  • Shoulder, elbow, and wrist pain

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Minor soft-tissue injuries

  • Pain and inflammation during recovery from certain injuries

Young athletes may be especially prone to repetitive-use problems as they practice and compete, but a young person doesn't have to play sports to benefit from treatment.

If pain is persistent, severe, unexplained, or associated with a significant injury, I may recommend that your child be evaluated by their healthcare provider before beginning K-Laser Therapy.

What Is a K-Laser Treatment Like for Kids & Teens?

K-Laser Therapy is non-invasive and generally comfortable. Most patients feel a gentle warmth as the laser is moved over the area being treated. There are no needles or injections, and treatment does not require anesthesia or recovery time.

Before treatment, we'll talk about where the pain is, how the injury happened, how long it has been bothering them, and what activities are difficult because of it. Treatment is then adjusted for the individual and the area being treated.

Appointments are one-on-one, so I have time to explain what I'm doing and make sure your child or teen is comfortable. A parent or guardian is welcome to stay with them throughout the treatment.

Afterward, they can return to school and normal daily activities unless a physician or other healthcare provider has placed restrictions on their activity because of the underlying injury.

K-Laser Therapy doesn't replace appropriate medical evaluation. If something about an injury concerns me or I don't think laser is the right next step, I'll let you know.

What Parents Often Want to Know

How many treatments will my child need?
There isn't one treatment schedule that fits every child or injury. A recent injury may respond differently than an overuse problem that's been present for months. We'll see how your child responds and only continue treatment when it makes sense.

Can K-Laser Therapy be used along with physical therapy or other treatment?
Yes. K-Laser Therapy can often be used alongside physical therapy, rehabilitation, and other care. If your child is already being treated for an injury, K-Laser Therapy doesn't replace the recommendations of their healthcare provider.

Does my child need a diagnosis first?
Not necessarily for every minor strain or overuse complaint. However, significant injuries, unexplained or persistent pain, or symptoms that suggest something more than a straightforward soft-tissue problem should be appropriately evaluated. If I think your child needs to see another provider before we proceed, I'll tell you.

Will treatment hurt?
K-Laser Therapy is generally comfortable. Most patients feel gentle warmth during treatment. There are no needles or injections.

Can I stay with my child?
Absolutely. A parent or guardian is welcome to be present during the appointment.

What if K-Laser Therapy isn't helping?
I don't believe in continuing treatments simply to keep someone coming back. We'll pay attention to how your child is responding. If K-Laser Therapy isn't producing the progress we'd hope to see—or I think another approach would be more appropriate—we'll talk about that.

Can my child go back to sports right after treatment?
K-Laser Therapy itself doesn't require downtime, but that doesn't mean an injured athlete is automatically ready to return to play. Any activity restrictions related to the injury still need to be followed.
